We hope everyone is excited that Build Day is only 6 weeks away. We are working very hard to prepare for the big day. Some of you may have noticed that our funds thermometer increased drastically since last week. We have received over $13,500 in donations from various companies and individuals in the last couple of days, including a $500 donation from I.J. Smith & Son Ltd., a $1,000 donation from Pennecon/McNally, a $1,000 donation from Chapel Arm Pharmacy, $1,000 from North Atlantic Refinery, $5,000 from Smith Snacks, and $5,000 from Vale. In addition, a construction company has offered to donate it's time and equipment to do all of our ground work. We are overwhelmed and so grateful for the generosity of these companies and everyone that has donated so far. You can see a list of some of our donors on the left of the website.
We have also been crunching some numbers, and taking into consideration the 50/50 match on playground equipment from Let Them Be Kids, we believe our part of the project will cost approximately $60,000, which will include the basketball court, walking trails, outdoor classroom, picnic area, ball field and, of course, the playground. We do have a ways to go but we hope we can count on the support of others to help us reach our goal. Wouldn't it be great if we can surpass that goal and make the project even better than we had planned?
Thanks again to all those that have supported us thus far, whether it be by making a monetary donation, an in-kind donation or by coming to or supporting our fundraisers. This support has not gone unnoticed.
